GPC 517 Biopsychology

This course provides students with a clinically oriented understanding of the biological bases of behavior. Beginning with an accessible geography of the nervous system, students will learn how brain structures, systems, and functions inform human action. Topics covered include the philosophical and theoretical underpinnings of neuroscience, brain organization, neurons, neurotransmitters, the central nervous system, the peripheral nervous system, the limbic system, psychological disorders, and psychopharmacology. Clinical integration is explored through the application of major theoretical approaches to anxiety, depression, stress, and addiction.
