PAS 405 Advanced Preaching
Building upon concepts and skills acquired in Introduction to Preaching, this course will deepen students’ understanding of the development and practice of biblical preaching and teaching in the church today. The course will build on previous foundations by reinforcing the centrality of the text and the gospel for preaching and teaching, exploring the importance of considering literary genre in preaching and teaching, engaging with varying sermon and instructional forms, developing the student’s capacity for creativity and variety in preaching and teaching, and developing the student’s “cultural intelligence” as they engage with listeners.
