CYF 205 Caring Skills for Children & Youth

This course will prepare students to care for children and youth facing difficult life situations.  Students will develop basic caring skills, including active listening, empathy, appropriate questioning and creative approaches to engage in meaningful conversation.  Attention is given to caring for children and youth in everyday ministry situations as well as responding biblically to significant issues such as anxiety, sexuality, anger, grief, technology use, and self-harm. Students will also learn to recognize appropriate boundaries and when additional support is needed. (3 credits)
