MUS 231 Songwriting
Course Description – In this course, students will analyze and create text (lyrics), melody, harmony,
rhythm and structure for songs. Students will also critique their original songs and the songs of their peers. The purpose and public presentation of songs will be discussed. Emphasis will be given to the creative process and generation of ideas. Collaborative and interactive aspects of writing and performing songs will also be of key importance.
