THR 302 Meisner Technique II

In Meisner II students will build on the foundation learned in Meisner I by deepening their understanding of how to work off a partner in order to respond truthfully to external impulses. Through structured exercises, students build on their understanding of working off their partner’s behaviors, talking and listening truthfully on stage, and making strong active choices. Students are also introduced to the method of emotional preparation and imagination work.  This further develops emotional range and ability to “live truthfully under imaginary circumstances”, which is the benchmark for any Meisner-trained actor. This stage of the training teaches how to add complexities and layers to their work by exploring how to play relationships in a truthful and compelling way, while tapping into a rich consistent emotional life. Students create imaginative relationships with partners using simple and easily practicable methods to personalize their work.  (2 Credits)
