Youth and Young Adult Ministry (BA)

Majors: Youth & Young Adult Ministry
Major Mission: The major prepares students to utilize their unique gifts both personally and professionally for ministry with youth and young adults in a variety of ministry contexts through academic rigor (head), spiritual formation (heart), and professional ministry experience (hands).
Major Outcomes:
- Biblical Philosophy of Ministry
The student will formulate a philosophy of ministry with youth and young adults that is biblically-founded, developmentally appropriate, and culturally sensitive.
- Developmental and Contextual Application
The student will develop ministries and relationships with youth and young adults that demonstrate a proper understanding of the psychological, sociological, cultural, and spiritual developmental factors impacting youth and young adults.
- Spiritual Health and Ministry Integrity
The student will form the moral, ethical, and spiritual foundations necessary for personal spiritual growth and sustainable ministry.
- Ministry Mentoring and Professional Experience
The student will build effective personal and professional relationships based on mutual support and accountability for the purpose of intentional ministry development.
- Biblical Communication Skills
The student will design and deliver effective biblical teaching grounded in hermeneutics, learning theory, and comprehensive understandings of adolescent and spiritual development.
- Ministry Leadership Skills
The student will demonstrate the professional skills necessary for creating, organizing, and leading a team-based ministry to youth and young adults.
