Professional Counseling Major (BS)

Major Mission: The mission of the Professional Counseling major is to equip the whole person from a biblical worldview with knowledge, learned skills, and practical training that is foundational for counseling ministry and preparation for graduate studies.
Major Outcomes - Students will:
- Examine professional literature and research demonstrating competency to describe and critique from a biblical worldview.
- Critically evaluate counseling theory and methods-assimilating learned knowledge into direct practice.
- Develop skills to identify diagnostic categories and apply intervention strategies to direct practice.
- Integrate professional ethics in the practice field setting.
- Evaluate personal assets and limitations-prioritizing areas of needed personal change for use in the professional counseling field.
- Develop and practice interpersonal skills relative to effectiveness in the professional counseling field
