Department of Arts and Sciences
Jesus declares that we are to love God with all our mind. Therefore, the Arts & Sciences department is dedicated to equipping students with broad cultural knowledge and practical principles for living out Christ's teaching through a strong liberal arts curriculum. Our courses emphasize four themes: developing discernment, cultivating creativity, analyzing the evolution of diverse worldviews, and critically investigating God's creation. These four themes presuppose that students, as God's image bearers, are pursuing more than a career. We believe students must be educated holistically, preparing them to follow God's call to be a redemptive presence in the world.
Department Objectives:
Students will:
- Develop rhetorical skills that reflect God's redemptive purposes.
- Research and synthesize qualitative and quantitative information, primary and secondary sources, and cultural artifacts that are necessary to inform logical reasoning.
- Evaluate diverse cultural contributions to art, music, literature, and the sciences in light of a biblical worldview.
- Trace how the Arts & Sciences have shaped and continue to influence human thought and behavior.
- Cultivate principles for a life of creativity, cultural engagements, and biblical decision making in order to be a redemptive presence in the world.
