GPC 515 Counseling Theory and Techniques

This course presents an overview of major counseling/psychotherapy theories and the techniques and practices associated with those theories. Student experiences shall include an examination of the historical development of counseling theories. The course shall include an exploration of affective, behavioral, and cognitive theories, and an opportunity to apply the theoretical material to case studies. Students will also be exposed to models of counseling that are consistent with current professional research and practice in the field so that they can begin to develop their own theoretical approach to their work with individuals, couples, & families.
