2020-2021 Accelerated Undergraduate Student Handbook

The Charles and Gloria Jones Library

We strive to be excellent stewards of all of the resources that God has entrusted to us for the benefit of all of our patrons. Here are some general patron guidelines:

  • Students are responsible for borrowed materials.
  • Students are responsible to know when materials are due and return them on time.
  • Students may request a printout with due dates at checkout, or due dates can be checked online at library.lbc.edu using your last name and the barcode number.

Current lending policies are summarized below.

ID Card Your Lancaster Bible College ID card serves as your library card. Please present your card at the Information & Circulation Desk whenever you want to borrow materials.
Borrowing limit No limit to the number of items you may borrow
Circulation period 30 days for books & CDs; 2 days or 2 weeks for DVDs
Renewal period 30 days for books & CDs; 2 days or 2 weeks for DVDs
Renewal limit Items can be renewed once online, by phone, or in person, as long as they are not needed by another patron. After one renewal, items must be physically returned to the library for reshelving, or to be checked back in and then checked back out to begin another cycle of three renewals. Note: If your books are overdue when you renew them, the library circulation system can only renew until the $20 fine limit is reached.
Fines $0.25 per day / per item
Account blocked Once fines reach a total of $20 you will not be able to continue borrowing until the fines are paid.
Maximum fine The maximum fine per item is $5.
Payment Fines can be paid by cash or check (payable to Lancaster Bible College) only.
Reserve materials Reserve materials are selected for your courses by your professors. These materials are held at the Information & Circulation Desk. Reserve materials have varying loan periods and may or may not be able to be taken from the library.
Reference materials and periodicals These items may not be borrowed.

Interlibrary loan (ILL) If you need to use an item that the library does not have, we will check on its availability via interlibrary loan. You can submit interlibrary loan requests via WorldCat Local and OCLC FirstSearch. There is no cost for this service. Interlibrary loan items will be shipped to 901 Eden Road. For questions concerning Interlibrary Loan please contact ill@lbc.edu.
Addition Location Library Loan (ALL) You may request to have materials sent from one LBC location to another, such as requesting an item from Capital Seminary & Graduate School – Washington DC. Request items using the link Request Item from LBC Location on the library website. Please fill the form out completely.
Electronic databases and e-books You can access all databases from off campus using your LBC username and password.
Reshelving materials Place any materials you remove from the shelves, but decide not to borrow, on the RESHELVE SPOTS you find throughout the library. Please do not reshelve items yourself. It is our job to do this for you.
